- Two Naval Frigates (INS Kuthar and Kirpan) were  Inducted into Coast Guard Service in 1977.

- Five Pulicat Class Patrol Boats (INS Pamban, Puri, Pulicat, Panaji and Panvel) Inducted into Coast Guard Service in 1977.

Interim Coast Guard

► Interim Coast Guard Cell formed on 01 Feb 1977 Headed by Vice Admiral VA Kamath.

► Interim Coast Guard went into immediate action

and the Force Level provided, commenced the new operational role entrusted to the ICG.

Commissioning of  the First Coast Guard District Headquarters (DHQ-1) at Porbander (Sep 1984)

► Inauguration of CG Air Enclave at Goa, for the First Chetak Squadron 800 SQN (ICG) on 22 May 1982.

► The Aircraft were supplied by HAL and they were extensively used for SAR.

700 SQN(ICG)- Fokker F-27 

► Two F-27 were commissioned into 700 SQN(ICG), Kolkata on 30 Jul 1983.

► Fokkers were the first ICG Aircraft for Maritime Surveillance and SAR.  

►  Earlier they were in use by Indian Airlines.

ICGAS Daman- Dornier-228

► First two DO-228, Surveillance Aircraft handed over by M/S Dornier on 07 Jul 1986.

► 750 SQN(ICG) Commissioned on 18 Jul 1986.

► Third DO-228 Joined in Jul 1987 and Squadron Shifted to Daman.

►  ICGAS Daman Commissioned on 29 Oct 1987.

Seaward Defence Boats (SDB)

► ICGS Rajhans, Raj Tarang and Rajkiran were inducted into service  in 1980, 1981 and 1984 respectively.

► ICGS Rajshree and Raj Kamal were the 4th and 5th SDBs.

► The First Coast Guard Store Depot Established at Mumbai for Storing Ships and Aircraft Spares.

► The Coast Guard has Store Depots based at Mumbai, Chennai and Port Blair.

► The Air Store Depot, CGASD is at Goa.
