The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. The region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 07 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India. | |

| Search and Rescue | |

Three persons belonging to Bangalore were missing at Hony Beach, Ankola since 01 Sep 11.On receipt of information, ICGS Karwar deployed Coast Guard life saving team for search and rescue operation at Honey beach. Coast Guard team recovered two bodies near Ankola in Uttar Kannada District. The stranded fishing vessel MFB Al Hussain,off Arnalapada, reported non operational propulsion system and requested for tow assistance on 03 Sep 11. On receipt of information, Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West) directed ICGS Samrat to assist stranded fishing vessel MFB Al Hussain and vessel was towed to Mumbai safely. | |
| Community Interaction | |

ICGS Karwar organised community interaction at Kasarkod fishing harbour, Honnavar on 13 Sep 11. Representatives from Navy, Coastal Security Police and Fisheries department also participated in the event. During the community interaction fishermen were guided about coastal security and intimated all contact details of various agencies involved in coastal security. | |

| International Coastal Cleanup Day | |

To bring awareness on Marine pollution ICGS Karwar organised International Coastal Cleanup on 17 Sep 2011 at Rabindranath Tagore beach, Murudeshwar beach and Head Bandar beach. ICGS Mumbai also conducted International Coastal Cleanup at Juhu and Girgaun beach on 17 Sep 11. All Coast Guard units at Mumbai, NCC Students from Mumbai Units, School and College Students participated in the event. | |

| Hindi Week Celebration | |
|
Hindi week was organised at ICGS Karwar and ICGS Lakshadeep from 14 -21 Sep 2011. Various activities for use of Hindi as an official language were organised during the period. | |
