The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. The region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 07 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India. |

| Search and rescue Off Chavakad |

The Indian Coast Guard Ship C-144 was sailed from Beypore at 1430 hrs on 06 May 11 for SAR of distressed fishing vessel FV Kingfisher. The ship searched area off Badagara beach and established contact with FV Noorjahan which confirmed last known position of FV Kingfisher near sacrifice rock. FV Kingfisher was found partially submerged near sacrifice rock. A total 09 crew were safely rescued by FV Noorjahan. The partially submerged vessel FV Kingfisher was later towed by Indian Coast Guard Ship C-144 to Beypore harbour. |

| MV MIRACH of M/S Pina Shipping Company Panama was grounded off Kolachel on 29 Mar 11. Indian Coast Guard Regional (West) directed ICGS Laxmibai and CG Dornier Ex-747 to assist MV MIRACH. ICGS Laxmibai boarding party embarked onboard partially sub-merged vessel MV MIARCH. Slight oil spill was observed off Kolachel and the same was controlled by utilising PR dispersant spray by CG Dornier. CG Dornier Ex-747 and ICGS Laxmibai actively participated in Samudra Swatchhata exercise from 06 to 19 Apr 11 to contain oil spill and prevent damage to fragile maritime environment along Kerala/Kanyakumari coast. |

EEZ Surveillance |

Indian Coast Guard Dornier aircraft CG 763 was detached to Maldives for EEZ surveillance from 20 – 25 Apr 11. The squadron successfully completed all four detachments to Republic of Maldives from Jan 11 to Apr 11. During these detachments CG Dornier CG 763 / CG 756 were deployed for Anti-piracy, Search and Rescue and Maritime Surveillance operations. |
