The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. The region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 07 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station  and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India.

National Maritime Search And Rescue Board Meeting

10th National Maritime Search and Rescue board meeting was held at Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West) Worli, Mumbai on 26 Jul 11.

  

Community Interaction

Community interaction programme along with distribution of DATs in Sindhudurg district was conducted in coordination with fisheries department and the fishermen  societies of Sindhudurg district on 05 Jul 11. The programme was attended by fishermen from local and adjoining villages. The fishermen were made aware about the importance of coastal security and maritime security agencies. The importance of ‘DATS’ & ‘AIS’ was effectively conveyed to fishermen with emphasis on maritime security and need for strict compliance of  fishing regulations.

Community Interaction Programme along with distribution of Distress Alert Transmitter to fishermen was conducted by Headquarters Coast Guard District No.2  on 18 Jul 11. Commander Coast Guard Region (west) distributed the DATs.

TRAINING FOR FISHERMEN  of badda and pallissery village

Indian Coast Guard Station Minicoy conducted training on VHF communication equipment, DATs  and  distributed Distress alert Transmitters to fishermen of Badda  and Pallissery village.

ASSISTANCE TO Mv Orchid

Indian Coast Guard ship Annie Besant was sailed to assist merchant vessel  Orchid which sustained Engine room fire on 08 May 11 in area about 60 NM south of New Mangalore. The ship provided  boundary cooling to the vessel and closely monitored the fire fighting by MV Atlantic nearby ship till the fire was brought under control.

Causality Evacuation and Fire Fighting Training

Causality evacuation and fire fighting training to ships company was  carried out onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship Laksmibai on 07 Jul 11.
