The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. The region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 07 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station  and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India.

DGICG VISIT

Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, Director General Indian Coast Guard visited Western Region from 19 Dec to 21 Dec 2011.

SEARCH AND RESCUE OF FV ARMAAN

ICGS Lakshmi Bai received information from Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters  New Mangalore on 28 Nov 11 to render assistance to stranded fisherman, 20 NM off New Mangalore harbour. Ship sailed despite prevailing inclement weather and located stranded fishing boat at about 1615 hrs on 28 Nov 11. The survivors were embarked onboard and the boat was escorted to New Mangalore harbour.

Community Interaction

Indian Coast Guard Station Murud-Janjira conducted community interaction programme at Dighi and Borli Mandla Village of Murud Tehsil on 09 and 15 Dec 2011.

VOLLEY BALL MATCH/CROSS COUNTRY/WATER SPORTS

ICGS Murud-Janjira organised  Volley ball match with Naval Detachment team at PWD guest house playground on 16 Dec 11.

Inter Region cross country championship was organised by ICGS Kamladevi.

ICGS Kavaratti organised water sports at Bangaram Island.

ADVENTURE ACTIVITY

Adventure excursion was conducted by ICGAS Daman at Khanvel on 24 Dec 11.
