The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. Presently, the region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 09 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India. | |

| OIL SPILL |
Spillage of thick furnace oil from partially capsized boat MFB Al-Hussaini was observed in Mallet Bunder Basin, Mumbai Port Trust on 27 May 12. Coast Guard pollution response team (West) mobilised PR equipment and deployed 75 meters of river boom. Utilized 20 tons capacity of oil mop and recovered 3 tons of furnace oil and 6 tons of oily water sludge. Same was handed over to MPT authorities on 29 May 12. |
