The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. Presently, the region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 09 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station  and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India.

DGICG VISIT

Vice Admiral M P Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, Director General Indian Coast Guard on his visit to Western Region, visited  Coast Guard Store Depot  and Bureau of Naviks on 20 Mar 12.

Commissioning of ICGS Dahanu  

Coast Guard Station Dahanu, the third Coast Guard station in Maharashtra, was commissioned by the Director General Indian Coast Guard on 22 Mar 12. Commander Coast Guard Region (West) and senior officials from the Central and State Government witnessed the commissioning ceremony.

Indian Coast Guard Station Murud - Janjira conducted community interaction programme at Korlai and Aagrav villages of Murud Tehsil on 15 and 27 Mar 2012 respectively. Fisher folk were sensitized  about various aspects of fishing and fishing regulations including coastal security. The fishermen were made aware about the importance of coastal security and highlighted on their role of being “eyes & ears” of maritime security agencies.

DHQ-3 also organised community interaction programme at Bhatkal on 24 Mar 12 . During the community interaction fishermen were guided about coastal security and intimated all contact details of various agencies involoved in coastal security.

An adventure activity was conducted by ICGS karwar on 04 and 05 Mar12 . It included river rafting, banana ride, trekking and tryoline traverse crossing.

DHQ -3 organised oil spill response exercise off  Mangalore on 26 and 27 Mar 12.

GAIL (INDIA) Limited organised International Women's Day celebration on 08 Mar 2012 at Mumbai. Commandant Lalima Sharma was invited as Chief Guest to inaugurate the event.

101 cadets visited DHQ-3 on 11 Mar 12. Presentations and videos regarding Coast Guard activities were shown to cadets . Cadets visited all departments and were acquainted with the organisation of District Headquarters .

Aids Awareness Programme

AIDS Awareness programme was organised by DHQ-3 on 12 Mar 2012.  Free HIV test was also conducted as a part of programme.
