The Headquarters of Coast Guard Western Region is located at Mumbai. Presently, the region is commanded by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM. The entire coast line from Daman to Kanyakumari including the Union Territory of Lakshadweep comes under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West). There are 05 Coast Guard District Headquarters, 09 Coast Guard Stations, 01 Air Station  and 02 Air Enclaves on the Western seaboard of India.

Indian Coast Guard Investiture Ceremony was held at Kochi on 11 Apr 12. Shri AK Antony, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri reviewed parade and awarded the President’s Tatrakshak Medal and Tatrakshak Medal to the officers and enrolled personnel of Indian Coast Guard. Vice Admiral K N Sushil PVSM, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer-Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command, IG SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) and other dignitaries from central and state government graced the occasion.

Coast Guard Station Androth, the third Coast Guard Station in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, has been commissioned on 12 Apr 12 by Vice Admiral K N Sushil, PVSM, AVSM, NM,  Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, in the presence of Vice Admiral M P Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, Director General Indian Coast Guard. IG SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) and senior officials from the Central and UT administration witnessed the Commissioning Ceremony.

Oil Pollution Response Training

Coast Guard Pollution Response Team (W)  conducted oil pollution response training IMO level-1  for Oil handling agencies from 16 Apr to 20 Apr 12. A total of 15 representatives from HPCL Mumbai, ONGC Mumbai, MPCB Mumbai, MBPT Mumbai, BPCL Kochi refinery, Finolex Ratnagiri and Ultra Tech Cement Ratnagiri alongwith 04 personnel from Coast Guard completed the pollution response training.
