The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General KC Pande, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region. |

Vigilance Awareness Week was organised in the region from 25 Oct to 01 Nov 10. On this occasion lectures, debates and essay competition were organized by the units to highlight importance of vigilance in government organizations. |

RETRIEVAL OF TSUNAMI DATA BUOY |

Indian Coast Guard Ship Aruna Asaf Ali retrieved a Tsunami Data Buoy belonging to National Institute of Ocean Technology which has been drifting since 5 years from its original position from Northern group of Islands on 25 Oct 10. The buoy was handed over to NIOT Port Blair on 30 Oct 10. |

SPORTS ACTIVITIES |

A friendly volleyball match was played between the team of District Headquarters No. 9 and Indian Coast Guard Ship Aruna Asaf Ali during OTR of ship on 27 Oct 10. In the exciting and tough competition, DHQ-9 team won the match. |

COMMUNITY INTERACTION |

Community interaction was organised by Coast Guard Station Hutbay at Harvindar Bay for the fishing community of Harvindar Bay. During the interaction following key issues were discussed. (a) Safety and security of fishermen at sea. (b) Familiarization with the procedures to report any illegal / suspicious activity at sea. (c) Demonstration of life saving drills and survival techniques at sea. |
