The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Deputy Inspector General K R Nautiyal, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region. |

COAST GUARD RECEPTION |

CG reception was organized at CG parade ground on 01 Feb 10 as part of CG raising day celebration. Lieutenant Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhupinder Singh PVSM, AVSM was the chief guest. Coast Guard Brouchure 2010 was released by the chief guest during the event.

COAST GUARD AVERTS GROUNDING OF MOTOR TANKER SKILL |

On 14 Feb 2010, Republic of Panama vessel Motor Tanker Skill which was on passage to Chittagong for scrap was found dangerously drifting close to the barren island due to total power failure threatening the ecology of the island. Coast Guard through agents of the vessel arranged for supply of diesel and drinking water to the motor tanker through two fishing boats Peryianayagai and Arokiyamatha. Both the fishing boats were guided by the Coast Guard ship Bhikhaiji Cama and CG aircraft during their voyage. Diesel and fresh water was transferred to the adrift vessel Mt Skill and the vessel set sail for Chittagong on 19 Feb 10.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY CONDUCTED BY
COAST GUARD KINDERGARTEN |

The Coast Guard Kindergarten, Jingle Bells, Port Blair, celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 11 Feb 10 at CG Indoor Sports Complex. Around 178 children, their parents, teachers and officers were present at the occasion which was organised with pomp and zeal. The Chief Guest Dy Inspector General KR Nautiyal, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N), TM, appreciated the efforts put in by the children.

Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM Director General Coast Guard visited Andaman and Nicobar Region form 24 Feb to 27 Feb 10. During his visit, he reviewed the Coast Guard operational effectiveness and activities in the region. DGCG also met Lt. Governor (A&N), CINCAN and senior officials of A&N Administration. The DGCG also visited CGDHQ-9 and newly commissioned station CGS Hut Bay.
