The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General KC Pande, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region. |

A fishing boat alongwith 02 crew was rescued from sea and brought to Diglipur on 06 Aug 10. The operation coordinated by Indian Coast Guard Ship Aruna Asaf Ali and a hired dingy by Coast Guard District Headquarters - 9. |

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS |
|
Independence Day was celebrated by all units of the region with great enthusiasm and zeal. As part of Independence Day, Coast Guard District Headquarters No.9 organised a painting competition for school children. The aim of painting competition was to create awareness among children on Coast Guard charter of duties, traffic rules/ regulations and depict beauty of A&N Islands to encourage tourism to these Islands. Indian Coast Guard Ship Akkadevi, Kanaklata Barua and Durgabai Deshmukh anchored off Ross Island Port Blair for illumination on the occasion. |

District Headquarters - 9, Diglipur celebrated it's 24th anniversary on 19 Aug 10. The event was attended by the ship's company of District Headquarters - 9, Indian Coast Guard Ship C-140, 3 Raj Rif, 2U Det and Defence civilian staff. |

NBCD EVOLUTION |
|
NBCD evolutions were carried out onboard Coast Guard Ships at Port Blair by Coast Guard Workup Organisation from 09-11 Aug 10. The aim of evolutions was to prepare the ship and the ship's company to counter emergencies on board at sea or at harbour in the event of fire and flooding. |

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE |
|
A tree plantation drive of fruit bearing plants was undertaken on 07 Aug 10 and 28 Aug 2010 by various Coast Guard units under the aegis of Headquarters Coast Guard Region (A&N) at different Coast Guard premises, on occasion of World Environment day. All Officers and Enrolled Personnel actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm. About 280 saplings were planted on the occasion. |

COMMUNITY INTERACTION |
|
A Community interaction programme was conducted in Sita Nagar on 20 Aug 10 by District Headquarters No-9, Diglipur. During the interaction, lectures and demonstrations on disaster management, life saving equipment and safety of fishermen at sea were organised. Personnel have actively taken part in the interaction programme and got benefited of useful information such as toll free SAR number and provisions available for the fishermen’s safety at sea. |

TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP |

Andaman & Nicobar Command Table Tennis Championship was held from 07 Aug to 12 Aug 2010 at Command Integrated Defence Sports Complex. The event was conducted by Coast Guard Ship Bhikhaiji Cama on behalf of Indian Coast Guard. The championship comprised of both singles and doubles matches on knock out basis. The championship was won by Coast Guard team comprising of Comdt(JG) UK Iyer and KVN Rao (Steno). |
