The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Deputy Inspector General K R Nautiyal, TM. The Region has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region.

MEDEVAC FROM SUPER TANKER MT HARAZ

ICGS Kanaklata Barua carried out MEDEVAC operation from Iranian super tanker MV Haraz which was on her way from Singapore to Fuzaira when one of the crew member has sustained severe injury to his left hand with all fingers crushed. The ship, with medical team of DHQ-10, evacuated the patient off Campbell Bay on 21 Oct 09 night.

ICGS Kanaklata Barua organized community interaction with the fishermen at Campbell Bay on 30 Oct 2009. The ship demonstrated the use and utility of various life saving gears.

 

KAYAKING TRAINING

 Coast Guard ship Varad conducted Kayaking training onboard for officers and men of Coast Guard units at Port Blair on 14 Oct 09. An instructor from Sports Authority of India (SAI) taught the basics of a Kayak and its operation to officers and men of CG units based at Port Blair.

 

Two officers and four EP from various units at Port Blair, under went the capsule training from   27 Oct 09 till 31 Oct 09 at Sports Authority of India Water Sports Complex.

On 26 Oct 09 ICGS Bhikhaiji Cama embarked 20 IRBn/ Police personnel from Diglipur for change of crew of LOP Narcondam Island. The ship arrived off Narcondam Island on 27 Oct 09 for turnaround of Narcondam Guard. The ship embarked 18 ex-Narcondam Guard from the Island and disembarked them at Diglipur.

 

 

 

PROMOTING AWARENESS REGARDING CLEAN SURROUNDINGS

 

 

 

Officers and men from Coast Guard Region (A&N) are promoting environmental awareness among civilian population by undertaking voluntary cleanship of a lake. The men are emphasising the need to keep water pond/lake ‘cleaned’ to avoid Malaria, control mosquito and keep surrounding clean.

Headquarter ANC table tennis championship was held from 29 Sep to 09 Oct 09. Regional table tennis team emerged runners up in the event.
