Andaman Annual Boat Race—2009 |

Indian Coast Guard Region (A&N) organised the first ever Andaman Annual Boat Race on 11 Jan 09. The race was organised as one of the events of the CG Week Celebration on the occasion of 32nd anniversary of Coast Guard raising day which was flagged off by Shri Ranjit Narayan, DGP (A&N). |

An interactive session for the students of the Island was conducted at Jawaharlal Nehru Rashtriya Mahavidhyala and Dr BR Ambedkar Govt. Poly Tech College about Coast Guard, its role and responsibilities and career prospects. The students were motivated and inspired by the lecture and interactive session. The students exhibited kin interest and enthusiasm to serve the country being a part of the armed force. |

Painting and drawing competition for school children was conducted at Coast Guard Indoor Sports Complex, Port Blair and CG Dist Hqrs No.9, Diglipur. The theme for the competition was “Save Our Environment”. Smt G Madhumita Das, Director Andaman and Nicobar Postal Services graced the occasion as Chief Guest and gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners. Smt Ila Sharma, President CGWWA (A&N) was also present during the event. |

Coast Guard Regional Hqrs (Andaman & Nicobar) and CGDHQ-9 conducted a walkathon to spread the message of “PLASTIC FREE ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS” among the local populace on 30 Jan 2009 along with volunteers from Govt agencies and school children. |

Inter-School Quiz Competition entitled “Mastermind – 2009” was conducted on 27 Jan 2009 at Dweepika auditorium to encourage the participating students to develop a strong knowledge base and inculcate a spirit of competitiveness. The event was graced by Mrs Girija Shanker, President, DWWA. Vivekanand Kendriya Vidyalaya School emerged as the Winners of the Mastermind-2009 retaining the championship while Naval Children School was adjudged the Runners Up. |
