The Region has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region. |

APPREHENSION OF MYANMARESE BY ICGS KANAKLATA BARUA |

While on patrol in designated area in an operation conducted on 19 Dec, ICGS Kanaklata Barua apprehended 05 Myanmarese poachers along with their Dinghi. The poachers were carrying diving compressors and other accessories that were being used for diving. Initial interrogation revealed that the poachers were intending to carryout diving in search of sea cucumber and coral. |

CG MOTOR CYCLE RALLY 2009 |

As a part of 33rd CG Raising day celebration, motor cycle rally from Diglipur to Portblair from 01 -04 Dec 09 was organized by ICGS Akka Devi. The CG motor cycle rally with twin theme of” Coastal Security –Through participative surveillance” and “Swine Flu –Prevention is better than Cure” was flagged off from DHQ-9 premises by DIG KR Nautiyal ,TM, COMCG(A&N). A number of community interaction programmes were held at various schools and Gram panchayats enroute. The aim of interaction was to apprise locals and children about their role in maintaining peace and security in the Islands .They were also educated about the precaution to be taken for prevention of swine flu. The rally was received at Port Blair by VADM DK Joshi, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM the Commander – in – Chief, A & N command. |

Intra region Kabaddi championship was conducted from 07 Dec 09 to 11 Dec 09. Combined team of ICGS Aruna Asif Ali, Kanaklata Barua and Akkadevi was the winner up of the championship.
