MEDICAL EVACUATION FROM MV ANNAPURNA - 12 APR 2007

On 12 Apr 2007 at about 1630 hours the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, (MRCC), Port Blair received a request from MV Annapurna in position about 11 nautical miles North East of Narcondum Island (A & N Island) for immediate medical evacuation of one crew who has severed right hand finger while working on board. 

On receipt of the information, the ICGS Akka Devi on patrol in the area was diverted to evacuate the injured crew to Diglipur.  ICGS Akka Devi established communication with the vessel at 1705 hours on 12 Apr 07 and evacuated the injured crew at 1915 hours on 12 Apr 07 in position 54 nautical miles North East of Diglipur Island.  The injured crew was administered first aid and thereafter handed over at Diglipur AM 13 Apr 07 to the District Medical Officer, Diglipur.  The condition of the patient is reported to be stable.

MEDICAL EVACUATION FROM DREDGER PROF GORJUNOV - 15 APR 2007

On 15 Apr 2007 at about 0040 hours the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, (MRCC), Chennai received a request from the Master of Dredger Prof Gorjunov in position about 15 nautical miles South East of Point Calimere (Tamil Nadu) for immediate medical evacuation of one crew, who had dislocated his shoulder. 

On receipt of the information, the ICGS Jijabai on patrol in the area was diverted to evacuate the injured crew.  At about 0745 hours one 15 Apr 2007, ICGS Jijabai arrived in the area.  The Patient was transferred to ICGS Jijabai and brought to Indian Coast Guard Station Mandapam (Tamil Nadu).  The patient was handed over to DCI representative in Rameshwaram and admitted in  Pioneer Hospital, Ramnad.  The condition of the patient is reported to be stable.
