The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General  SP Sharma, PTM, TM. The Coast Guard has a force level of one OPV, three FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region.

ANC Command Traithlon Championship 2009-10 at Diglipur

Command Triathlon Championship was conducted by DHQ-9 on 23 May 2009. Teams from Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard actively participated with full josh and enthusiasm. The championship consisted of three legs: Swimming (1.2 km), Cycling (10 km) and Running (05 km). Coast Guard sailor, Sushil Majhi U/Nvk (SA) from DHQ-9 was awarded a special consolation prize for displaying extreme courage and determination.

ANC Command Triathlon Team

Distribution of Distress Alert Transmitter (DAT) to Fishing Community by COMDIS-10

Distress Alert Transmitters (DAT), An equipment that has proved as boon for the fishing community were handed over to local fisherman at Kamorta and Car Nicobar by District Commander–10 (Nicobar Islands) on 18 May and 20 May 09 respectively. The local fisheries department assisted in distribution of the same.

Trekking at Campbell Bay : ICGS VARAD

 

 

A team comprising of 05 officers and 19 men of Coast Guard Ship Varad successfully completed trekking from jetty to Joginder Nagar at Campbell Bay covering a distance of 12 kilometer during ship’s Operational Turn Around on 15 May 2009. The team witnessed the Tsunami relief construction at various occasions.

SAR Off Havelock & Neil Islands

 

 

 

On 04 May 09, CGAE (PB) received information about breakdown of a boat off Havelock and Neil Islands through a merchant vessel plying in the area. CG 803 Chetak was immediately tasked to approach the area to carry out the search. Two SAR sorties were undertaken during which survivor could be rescued.

Reception For ICGS Sankalp

ICGS Sankalp, which has recently joined the Indian Coast Guard fleet, was tasked for off shore deployment to Singapore for exchange of friendly ties with the country. A reception was organized for ICGS Sankalp Officers and men at Port Blair before its voyage to international waters on 05 Apr 09.

Rebasing of Durgabai Deshmukh

 A Fast Patrol vessel series ship inducted by Coast Guard which is capable of executing very high speeds is now rebased at Port Blair ex Kochi. A Reception was organized on this occasion. The ship with its high speed and new genre technology will further strengthen the morale and performance of existing fleet.

Rebasing of ICGS Ganga Devi

Regional Headquarter (A & N) Region had bid adieu to its ship ICGS Gangadevi for rebasing at Chennai. The ship was adjudged as best unit by Coast Guard Headquarter, Delhi in 2008. Also the ship had brought laurels and fame for the region in the past. Farewell in this regard was organised on 20 May 09.
