The Regional Headquarters of Coast Guard, Andaman & Nicobar Region is located at Port Blair. Presently the Region is commanded by Inspector General  SP Sharma, PTM, TM. The Coast Guard has a force level of one OPV, two FPVs, three IPVs, two Dornier aircraft and two Chetak helicopters in this region.

DG ICG Visit to Port Blair

 Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM Director General Indian Coast Guard visited Andaman and Nicobar Region form 12 Feb to 14 Feb 09. During his visit he reviewed the Coast Guard operational effectiveness and activities in the region. DG ICG called on  Lt. Governor (A&N), CINCAN and senior officials of A&N Administration. The DG ICG also visited CGDHQ-10 (Campbell Bay), wherein he inaugurated the new office complex of Coast Guard.

Inspection of deep Sea Fishing Vessel SFV Balaji

  ICGS Akka Devi carried out inspection of the Deep Sea Fishing Vessel for requisite Coast Guard clearance. The vessels were boarded off Carbyn Cove, Port Blair and inspection commenced in presence of their agent.

 Rescue of 132 Bangladeshi National

 Indian Coast Guard Ship Lakshmi Bai whilst patrolling Southern Group of Islands on 14 Jan 09 rescued 132 Bangladeshi nationals and handed over them to local administrative authorities at Campbell Bay for immediate medical attention.

Rescue Operation : FB Boat World Vision (Mohan) No. ANB MVSA/237          

ICGS C-140 whilst patrolling on 13 Feb 09 rescued 04 fishermen from the boat -”World Vision(Mohan)” No ANB MVSA /237, which was drifting away view engine breakdown.

Pollution Response Training: CGPRT(A&N)

IMO Level-1 Pollution Response Training course was conducted for all oil handling/ resources agencies of Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 16 Feb to 20 Feb 2009. 12 participants from oil handling agencies attended the course. The resource agencies included  SPCC, IOC, PMB, SPCB and Forest department .Extensive theoretical classes with practical demonstration were conducted for the participants. The participants were awarded certificate in a valedictory function.
