On 30 Jul 09, Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre Mumbai, received a message from the master of MV Ariston enroute to Paradip,  requesting urgent medical evacuation of Chief Engineer having severe groin pain.  On receipt of information, MRCC Mumbai intimated MRCC Chennai and MRSC Paradip for coordination.   ICGS Ramadevi on patrol in area, was diverted by the Commander Coast Guard District No.7 (Orissa), to augment medical evacuation. ICGS Ramadevi reached the area and evacuated the patient from MV Ariston at about 1705 hrs and provided first aid to the suffering crew.  Thereafter, the patient was handed over to the local agent M/s Peninsula Marine Agency Pvt Ltd at Paradip harbour at 1830 hrs on 30 Jul 09. The patient was admitted in Paradip Port Trust Hospital for further treatment.  The prompt medical assistance provided by the Coast Guard, has not only enabled the patient to seek solace, but also gave the crew and the Maritime community to repase faith in an SAR agency like Indian Coast Guard.
